ALEX MCNIECE

CREATIVE DIRECTION / GRAPHIC DESIGN

Growing up in New Zealand, followed by living in Seattle and then San Francisco has given me a unique perspective on the way I approach design. I believe design is a truly universal language, and that it is a way of thinking that can be used to solve problems large and small, whatever the sector.

I am now based in the hub of Silicon Valley—Menlo Park, California— where I work as a freelance Creative Director for tech companies and a variety of startups. My passion is for building brand ecosystems that expresses the unique voice of a company or product and that communicate in a way that is thoughtful, as well as thought-provoking.

I began my design career at Fitch in Seattle, working my way up to become a design lead, managing a team of designers. Here, I helped define next generation concepts in print, packaging and corporate branding as well as UI initiatives for large brands such as Microsoft, Boeing, DHL and Nordstrom.

My time in San Francisco involved working on branding and design for Levis, Port of Seattle along with smaller not for profits. I also spent time as an Art Director on the Retail and Channel marketing teams at Apple.

My educational background concentrates in graphic design—with a specialty in typograpgy, along with painting—for which I was awarded the annual prize in my BFA from Auckland University, New Zealand.
